Annette LaRue has been tattooing since 1989 and rules the Electric Ladyland empire. She had a traditional “Old School” apprenticeship with Cindy Lael in Daytona, Florida and then continued to hone her skills under legendary Tattoo Czar Lou Sciberras in Miami.
Annette came to New Orleans in 1994 where she worked for Jacci Gresham. She then struck out on her own and opened up Tampa, Florida landmark “Blue Devil Studio” in Ybor City. (which, of course, was wildly successful.) New Orleans called her back in 1996 and she answered by taking over Electric Ladyland, then a single shop on Earhart Boulevard. In 2000 she accquired “Orleans Ink”, which, after an overhaul of property and staff, became Electric Ladyland Downtown.
Annette’s style? “I love traditional tattoos and paying customers!” laughs Annette.
Known the world over as an industry star and conventioneer, Annette has been honored among the “Who’s Who of New Orleans Women in Business.” Under her proprietorship, Electric Ladyland has been selected as the “Best Place to Get a Tattoo” by the New Orleans Gambit Weekly for Ten years in a row!
