Electric Ladyland II (Downtown) was opened on Frenchmen Street by Annette LaRue in February of 2000, after Electric Ladyland I (Uptown) proved to be a huge success. Formerly called “Orleans Ink,” Annette overhauled the shop and staff to be able to offer the best and cleanest tattoos to everyone in the Big Easy…both Saints and sinners.
Located in the historic and colorful Faubourg Marigny, it is one block from the infamous French Quarter and nestled amongst the hip bars and restaraunts of Frenchmen Street.
Our sister shop on Carrollton Avenue, Electric Ladyland I, was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. However, most of the Downtown staff is still here ready to meet your tattoo needs.
Due to our location, tourists from all over the world stop by every day. From dregs to divas, we’ve tattooed them all – Christina Ricci, Lindsay Lohan, Donna D’errico, Al Jourgenson, Harry Anderson…We even tattooed Angelina Jolie’s name on Billy Bob Thornton! (before the breakup, of course…Sorry, BB.) We have had guest artists such as: Christopher D. Smith, Jamie Dehlin, Jeff Rassier, Chris Merchant, Tim Creed, M. Long Necker, Lisa Schmolt, Ms. Zoe, Ms. Deborah, Mike Wilson, Theo Mindell, Juan Puente, Eric Jones, Adam Jeffries, Can Man, Eric Inksmith Jr., and many others.
This Shop is HUGE with almost 2000 square feet and so many designs we’ve had to cover the ceilings as well! We constantly hear from our clientele about how snazzy our shop is and on the professionalism, courtesy, and the technical skills of our staff. You might notice the huge trophy featured in the picture window facing Frenchman Avenue. Annette LaRue and Cameron Sweet won the coveted “Best of Show” award at the recent Southern Comfort Tattoo Expo held here in New Orleans every Hallowe’en. Our staff is full of award winners that have been in numerous tattoo publications.
Don’t want flash off the walls? No problem! We can design a custom tattoo for you that is yours and yours alone. Worried about cleanliness? Don’t! We go above and beyond when it comes to cleanliness and sanitation. We use autoclave sterilization (Monitored regularly by an independent monitoring service), disposable needles, single use ink containers, and all of our artists have been trained regarding OSHA’s standards regarding bloodborne pathogens.
